Attention motorists who regularly travel I-94 and have been waiting (maybe not so patiently) for the southbound exit ramp at Highway 20 to re-open: the ramp will once again be available starting Friday.
Real Racine tweeted the news Monday.
“We’re happy at Exit 333 – the southbound ramp to Hwy 20 reopens THIS Friday! #realracine,” the post reads.
A press release from the state Department of Transportation confirmed the news.
“I-94 EAST (SB) exit ramp to WIS 20 is scheduled to OPEN to traffic early the morning of Friday, July 3,” the email reads. “The new exit-ramp will still have adjacent construction activities while the bridge over WIS 20 is being built. Motorists are urged to be patient and anticipate some traffic delays during peak hours.”
The southbound lanes at Highway 20 have been diverted since March to the northbound overpass while the south overpass was taken down for total reconstruction. The same work was down on the northbound lanes last year.
The Highway 20 interchange project costs $23 million and is one of 17 that will be addressed during the multi-year, $1.7 billion expansion of I-94 from downtown Milwaukee to the Wisconsin-Illinois border.
