The Route 20 Outhouse state rocked the first day of Kraut Fest. With WiiL Rock Fest slated to host a 12-hour rock music festival on August 22, the joint parks commission is hosting an informational meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 12  for neighbors that live around the park to discuss any issues they have.

The all-ages event is expected to draw 3,000 people and will feature 40 bands, including: Hollywood Undead, Pop Evil, Saving Abel, Emphatic, Psychostick, 3 Years Hollow, They Never Say No, and Carbellion. The second of three music festivals to be held at the Caledonia-Mount Pleasant Memorial Park, Route 20 Outhouse owner Ray Stibek’s event company GZK Entertainment put on the Kraut Music Festival in June. They also plan to host another one-day music festival in October.

Jim Svboda, park manager for the park, said he’s hosting the event for neighbors because a number of neighbors have had concerns about the event.

“We want people to know what to expect,” Svboda said. “There have been a lot of bad perceptions of the event and we haven’t even had it yet.”

WiilRock Fest won’t be using taxpayer money to fund the festival, but they have paid the villages a flat fee to host the event.

“A couple of residents believe this is not a family-friendly event because of the type of music we’re playing… we don’t want there to be any surprises,” Svboda said.

Svboda said that while the park has been improved, there was about $250,000 in deferred maintenance projects that hadn’t been done over the years. GZK Entertainment, and the joint parks have either paid for or donated $67,886 in upgrades to the park. But Kraut Fest raised dollars for the improvements and Stibeck hopes to recoup that money with the other two shows.

“We’re only asking for six days out of the year between the three festivals and we’re trying to raise money for the park,” Svboda said.

Representatives from the parks department, police and fire departments, village staff and event organizers will be on hand to talk about the impact of the festival on nearby residents, what to expect, and why the park commission and the villages are having the event.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12 at the Caledonia/Mt. Pleasant Memorial Park Hall, 9416 Northwestern Ave, Franksville.
