After a 13-year-old Caledonia girl died Sunday when a SUV struck her while she was jogging, the William Horlick High School Class of 1983 has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family.
Sara Dresen, 13, of Caledonia, was jogging southbound at about 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9 on the west side of Middle Road near 5 1/2 Mile Road when a 34-year-old Caledonia man driving a SUV crossed the center line, struck Sara, and hit a utility pole. She died at the scene.
Sara’s mother, Lisa Hansen, graduated from Horlick High School in 1983.
“Our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase a permanent memorial in Sara’s name, contribute to a scholarship fund for Emma (their oldest daughter) and to help fund any other family needs or wishes,” according to the GoFundMe account page. “Please consider contributing to help us reach or exceed our goal.”
Dresen would have started the eighth grade this fall at St. Catherine’s Middle School.

Macemon is expected to have a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Aug 20 in front of Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch.
