Racine's Wind Point Lighthouse at Sunset. The cloud looked like a beacon flashing across the sky!Wind Point residents and community members are invited to share their ideas for the future of the Village Green from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 16 at The Prairie School in the John H. Mitchell Theater.

The Village has contracted with Ayres Associates to develop a park plan over the next four to five months. The meeting is an opportunity for residents to share feedback about current and future uses and amenities of the Village Green, Wind Point Lighthouse grounds and walking/biking connectivity in the Village.

The meeting follows a survey of the about 1,700 Village residents which yielded 107 responses. Of those 45 percent said they use the Village Green when the weather is warm. Respondents most appreciated the open space, playground equipment and tennis courts. Asked for improvements included updated playground equipment, landscaping and a walking path. A majority also favored a picnic area and shelter.

More than 80 percent of respondents believed improvements to the Village Green were more important than improvements to the Lighthouse grounds. For a full summary of survey results,  click here.

The final park plan is expected to be presented to the Village Board at a public meeting in late fall or winter. Updates on the plan progress will be posted on the Village website at windpointwi.us.
