Racine police say a 42-year-old man is facing a slew of felony charges after they identified him as the heroin supplier who sold the drug to a man who nearly overdosed.
Robert Petty, of Racine, was charged Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony charge of 
recklessly endangering safety; two felony counts of delivery of heroin, one of which is conspiracy to to deliver heroin in quantities of 10 to 50 grams; and six counts of felony bail jumping. If convicted, he faces the rest of his life in prison and/or up to $190,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, Joshua Molnar and Sunshine Ketchum June 8 bought a quantity of heroin from Ashley Mitchell who was Petty’s girlfriend at the time. Molnar overdosed, and Ketchum called 911. Rescue crews used Narcan to revive Molnar and police subsequently arrested Molnar, Ketchum and Mitchell on a variety of felony charges that could land the women in jail for the next several decades and Molnar behind bars for a handful of years as well.
During the course of their investigation into who supplied the heroin, Ketchum worked with officers to set up drug buys with Petty. He is accused of selling more than 10 grams of heroin to Ketchum over a period of 36 days and is believed to supply a number of other dealers and customers throughout the city.
A $100,000 warrant was issued August 20 for Petty’s arrest but was canceled Tuesday at his initial appearance where he was assigned a $50,000 cash bond. He was ordered to supply a DNA sample and will next be in court Sept. 3 for his preliminary hearing.
