A planned Chester’s Chicken outlet is one step closer to obtaining a beer and wine license so dine-in customers can have the option.
The new restaurant is slated to take up about 1,400 square feet of the existing Ayra’s liquor store/BP gas station at 1120 Washington Avenue, The Journal Times reported. The Public Safety and Licensing Committee is recommending approval from the full City Council.
At the meeting Tuesday, owner Harjeet Waliia told alderpersons all alcohol will be kept behind the counter, he will install surveillance cameras, use scanners to verify that people are presenting valid state ID’s to prove their ages and he will close every night by 10 p.m., the story continued.
Waliia told the newspaper he hopes to have the restaurant open by the end of the year, which would make it the second Chester’s located in Racine. The first Chester’s is inside the BP gas station at 1975 State Street.
Final approval for the site is contingent on Waliia cleaning up construction debris, removing graffiti on a garbage dumpster and completes landscaping.
