Mount Pleasant police say two teenagers are facing felony burglary charges after they broke into a house Wednesday morning and were chased away by a resident who was home at the time.
Officers were called at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday to a home in the 5700 block of Heather Way for a report of a burglary in progress. A man was at home at the time and was alerted to the incident by a dog barking and was able to chase the suspects away.
Subsequent reports from dispatch indicated the two suspects were seen fleeing the area on foot before getting into a dark colored SUV. Police lost track of the suspects at the time, but later spotted the vehicle in the area and took the teens into custody.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the SUV and found electronics and money from the burglary.
The two suspects were booked into the Racine County Jail on burglary charges. We will update this story as details become available.
