Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch set bail at $100,000 cash for a 45-year-old man accused of paying a 5-year-old girl $1 to have oral sex with him.
Orlando Deleon, of Racine, was charged Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court with a single felony charge of first degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13. If convicted, he faces up to 60 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators on August 20 were called to a home on the city’s south side for a report of a sexual assault. When police arrived, a woman and her daughter told them that Deleon blindfolded the girl and took her into a bathroom at his home where he promised to pay her a dollar to “play a game.” The girl said that she performed oral sex on Deleon and that he made her promise not to tell anyone.
Investigators say other children who were nearby at the time of the incident confirmed that Deleon blindfolded the girl and then took her inside. They also said that Deleon paid the girl $1 because she “played the game.”
When a search warrant was executed on Deleon’s home, police found a bandana matching the description provided by both the girl and the other children, the complaint reads, as well as clothing that matched what the girl said the defendant was wearing at the time of the incident.
Deleon arrived home while officers were still searching his house and police say he told them he was home on the day in question and that he’d had eight or nine beers in a two-hour time span. He denied blindfolding the girl and sexually assaulting the girl and told them he asked her to close her eyes before giving her applesauce.
Because he has been charged with a felony, Deleon was ordered to provide a DNA sample as well as to have no contact with the girl or any witnesses. He remains in the Racine County Jail and will next be in court Sept. 10 for a preliminary hearing.
