Lindsey HammondA Racine woman is in jail after she didn’t send her two children to school for a whole school year, according to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

Lyndsey Hammond, 31, of Racine, was charged Friday, Sept. 4 with 47 counts of failing to have her twin seven-year-old children attend school, according to the criminal complaint.

If convicted of all charges, Hammond faces up to 11 years, seven months in prison and/or fined up to $47,000.

According to the criminal complaint, the children were expected to attend Fratt Elementary School, 3501 Kinzie Ave., the 2014-2015 school year. No reason was given for the absences in the criminal complaint.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hammond’s arrest on Sept. 1. After Hammond was arrested Friday, she made an initial appearance on Friday, Sept. 4 in front of Racine County Circuit Court Judge Charles Constantine. A cash bond was set for $100.
