A man driving a Pontiac Sunbird fell asleep and caused a mess in the 3300 block of Washington Ave. Wednesday, Sept. 9.
Arthur Shattuck, owner of Roots And Legends at 3209 Washington Ave., said the driver crashed into three cars, two parking meters, and a light pole at about 12:15 p.m.
The light pole smashed into the window at Roots and Legends, and part of the entrance way into the apartments above Security Finance at 3207 Washington Ave., was demolished.
Shattuck does acupuncture and massage.
“I was needling someone and I heard a big crash,” Shattuck said. “But no one was hurt and it got cleaned up pretty fast. I’m just waiting for someone to board up my window.”
The car, which was traveling eastbound, came to rest in front of CopyCat Music, Aquarium and Pet Supply, 3205 Washington Ave. The owner of Copycat Ray Sanin said he didn’t see or hear anything.
“But my cat started acting funny and then I saw a lot of cops and people in front of my store,” Sanin said. “But I fared pretty well.”
Employees at Security Finance declined to comment.
