Great run on a new course. The Biggest Loser Run Walk Half-Marathon and 5k is back for its fourth year on Sunday. The half-marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by the 5k at 8 a.m. from North Beach Park, 100 Kewaunee St. This year’s race course is changed to run through the Racine Zoo and down the scenic lakefront. Lisa Rambo, Season 14 contestant from the NBC-TV reality series The Biggest Loser, will join event hosts Dan and Jackie Evans at the free Health and Wellness Expo from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday at North Beach Park. Saturday afternoon’s activities will also include the Kids Fit Foundation kids fun run. On Saturday, Jerry and Estella of Season 7 will lead the pre-run stretch. It’s Super Saturday! In Union Grove, this Saturday will be super – all day long. Super Saturday begins with the Superhero Fun Run 5k run/walk from School Yard Park at 8 a.m. to encourage you have fun with your family and friends. The day of fun continues at 9 a.m. in Downtown Union Grove with a rock ‘n roll kids show, the Trinity Irish Dancers, the Racine Zoo animal program, a scavenger hunt, superhero training, food, crafters, vendors and much more. The day wraps up with the annual Kiwanis street dance at Village Square Park from 6 p.m. to midnight featuring the band Weird Science. Visit www.uniongrovechamber.org
Baring all at RTG. A comedy play, “Calendar Girls” opens at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave., on Friday. This is a very funny story about a couple of female friends who persuade four other friends to pose nude in a calendar for a hospital fundraiser. The calendar ended up generating a lot more attention than anyone expected. “Calendar Girls” has been a wildly popular play and film in Britain. History in Caledonia. The Caledonia Historical Society invites everyone experience history firsthand at the Caledonia Homecoming Festival Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at Linwood Park, 5900 W. Five Mile Road. You’ll see blacksmith, sawmill and rope-making demonstrations, Civil War reenactments, antique tractors and classic cars. There will be music by the Wilson Aires Swing Band on Saturday and the Freshwater bluegrass band on Sunday. Detail at www.caledoniahistoricalsociety.org
Floating on cardboard. Take cardboard, duct tape and some ingenuity and you have a regatta. Cardboard boats will show their stuff on the Root River near the Harbor Lite Yacht Club, 559 State St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The boat race starts at 3 p.m. There will also be food and drink specials at live music from the Marty Groth Duo and the band Fur Pants. A portion of the event’s proceeds will support Pink Paddling Power, a breast cancer awareness group.
