Members of the ad hoc committee for an independent school district Wednesday will find out how much a study could cost and what it would include.
A presentation by representatives from the Wisconsin Taxpayers Association is listed on the meeting agenda.
The ad hoc committee is comprised of two trustees each from Caledonia, Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant; Kevin Wanggaard, David Prott, David DeGroot, Gary Feest, Chris Larsen and Chris Wright, respectively.
Wanggaard is the chair of the committee, and this is the third time the group has gotten together. Since then, trustees were given a copy of the 2008 feasibility study to review, and the meeting Wednesday will go over the proposed scope of a new study and potential costs.
Proponents of Caledonia separating from Racine Unified urged the village board to fund a study after residents there approved a referendum in April saying they would support exploring an independent school district.
Trustees voted the measure down twice, though, and the village presidents – Bob Bradley, Jerry Garski, and Steve Jansen – put together the ad hoc committee to gauge scope and costs of a combined study.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Conference Room 1 at Mount Pleasant Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive.
