Local businessman Chuck Beth is the winner of the first Sturtevant Fireworks $15,000 raffle.
Sturtevant police Chief Sean Marschke Tuesday drew Beth’s winning ticket at the regularly scheduled board meeting, and Village President Steve Jansen called him on speakerphone to give him the good news. Beth was surprised.
“You’re kidding me!” he said.
There were 291 of 300 tickets sold, raising $14,910 for the 2016 fireworks. The 2015 fireworks were canceled because of a lack of funding and volunteer interest.
Jansen thanked all the ticketholders for their support and Trustee Carrie Harbach especially for her role in making the raffle a success then he turned the floor over to Marschke to draw the ticket.
