Racine Unified is posting updates on its website about work being done throughout the district using referendum money approved last November.
The Case High School field house was a total reconstruction. Crews took the area down to the studs and dirt floor before rebuilding boys and girls locker rooms; the weight room and gym with hardwood floor. Work commenced this summer, and was expected to wrap up this month. The total cost approved for the field house was $3 million.
At Giese Elementary, entrances needed upgrading to meet Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, so ramps and railings were added. Stoops, portions of school parking lots, and driveways were repaved. Additionally, at least one bathroom was also upgraded to meeting ADA requirements.
