Motorists who drive I-94 and use the Highway 20 entrances and exits with any regularity can rejoice: two years of construction on the Highway 20 interchange have come to an end.

Construction on the northbound/westbound lanes took place in 2014, and in 2015 it was time for work to commence on the southbound/eastbound lanes.

It’s been a long few months of diverted traffic while construction crews took down and replaced the southbound overpass of I-94 at Highway 20 as part of the multi-year, $1.7 billion expansion of the expressway between downtown Milwaukee and the Illinois state line.

The southbound lanes at Highway 20 were diverted earlier this year to the northbound overpass while the south overpass was taken down for total reconstruction. The same work was done on the northbound lanes last year.
