lucasA Racine man is facing charges after he threatened to blow up the Racine County Law Enforcement Center, 717 Wisconsin Ave., on Oct. 28.

Lee R. Lucas, 45, was arrested for making a bomb threat and an unrelated misdemeanor retail theft charge, according to Racine County Jail records.

Held at the Racine County Jail on a probation hold since Nov. 26, the Racine County District Attorney‘s office has not officially charged Lucas yet.

Lucas threatened to blow up the Racine County Courthouses on Oct. 28 from a payphone in the 1300 block of Lathrop Avenue, according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Following the threat the Racine County Courthouse was evacuated and shutdown at 8:27 a.m. Monday. It remained closed until 1 p.m. as deputies and investigators with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department searched the building, according the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Making a bomb thread is a felony, which carries up to a three-year six months prison sentence and/or fines up to $10,000.
