How do we even begin to write this story with a straight face?
Over the years the Caledonia Police Department has responded to calls about loose camels, coyote, and alligators. Now they can add the beaver to the list.
This guy decided to cause a traffic hazard in the roadway Wednesday on Three Mile Road at Johnson Park Drive and a passerby called the police department on him.
According to the Caledonia Police Department’s Facebook page, they did not find Jerry Mathers standing in the roadway. Rather, they found the offending stubborn beaver still in the roadway (probably wondering where winter had gone).
“Beav was then taken to a local pond where he was given a short but effective lecture on violations of 346.25 in regards to pedestrians yielding way to vehicles when crossing the roadway,” according to the department’s Facebook page.
After the stern warning, “the Beav” was released and directed to a more appropriate habitat.
“As you can see in the photos Beav was happy to be released and waved goodbye to Ofc. Gelden,” according to the department.
