UPDATE: We Energies customers had their power restored sometime overnight.

ORIGINAL STORY: As the wind picked up Wednesday night, over 1,400 We Energies customers were without power, according the We Energies power outage map.

The outages in North Bay, Racine and Elmwood Park happened at about 10:45 p.m. as winds from the west gusted about 45 to 50 mph when a cold front came through the area.

A tree was reported to be down in the 6900 block of Middle Road, according to scanner traffic.

Racine County Eye reader Alison Dorval said the lights are out near Kinzie and Lathrop avenue.

“Police are on scene alerting divers, but not everyone quite gets it, and some are still just driving right through… Fire Department are here also. They are looking at the poles and the grounded electrical boxes near the intersection,” she said.

We’ll keep you posted on updates.
