Reason for the season. Living Nativity scenes – with people and animals – provide a quiet, thoughtful opportunity for Christmas season reflection. You can see one at First Church of God, 1650 Lathrop Ave., Racine, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Then on Thursday (Christmas Eve), you’re invited to Christmas in the Barn at the Squire Farm, 26715 Church Road, rural Burlington. Members of English Settlement United Methodist Church present Scripture readings and carols every 30 minutes from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
See some art. Watercolor Wisconsin 2015 is now on display at the Wustum Museum of Fine Art, 2519 Northwestern Ave., Racine. This year’s exhibition features 117 works by 94 Wisconsin artists. You’ll see a variety of subjects – flowers, animals, landscapes, portraits and abstracts – in two- and three-dimensional formats. Watercolor Wisconsin runs through April 23, 2016. The Wustum’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Closed Christmas Day. Free admission. Visit www.ramart.org
See some lights. There is still time to see some of the area’s popular holiday light shows. The Wisconsin Christmas Carnival of Lights is open evenings (except Christmas) through Dec. 31 at Jellystone Park Camp Resort, 8425 Hwy. 38, Caledonia. The displays claim to have more a million lights that you can see from the comfort of your vehicle. Admission (cash only) is $15 per car, $25 for campers, limos and mini buses; $30 for large buses and motor homes. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
