Bright police lights

A Racine man revived using Narcan – a drug that counteracts the effects of narcotics like heroin – was charged Wednesday with possessing narcotic drugs.

Nicholas S. Bono, 31, became unresponsive Tuesday morning. A person who saw him fall to the floor and lose consciousness called for help about 8:30 a.m. The caller told police that Bono was a recovering heroin addict, who she believed had been sober up until this incident.

She said Bono had stayed out late, and appeared drunk when he got home. In the morning, she saw him leave the bathroom and fall to the floor, unresponsive and barely breathing, according to the criminal complaint.

After he was medically cleared, Bono told police he had bought heroin on Sunday and used it steadily for two days, including injecting it the morning he collapsed.
