Mount Pleasant police say a 24-year-old pregnant woman is behind bars after she tried to flee from police Wednesday to try and escape arrest on multiple warrants.
Officers say they were called at 7:31 p.m. to Family Dollar, 5201 Washington Avenue, for a report of a woman who locked her keys in her car. It was determined that the driver of the vehicle, Jeaniqua Brumby, of Racine, had several warrants out for her arrest from both Racine and Mount Pleasant. When police tried to give her the opportunity to satisfy the warrants, she fled the scene.
Brumby lost control of her car at Washington and Roosevelt and hit a fire hydrant, then tried to flee on foot. She was apprehended and taken to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s for medical clearance because of the accident, and she is seven months pregnant.
