The unemployment rate in Caledonia and Racine over the past 10 years has been a tale of two very different municipalities as Racine has had the highest while Caledonia has almost always enjoyed the lowest.
Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant has largely been stuck in the middle of the two communities.
The rate — which were not seasonally adjusted — in Caledonia for November was 4.4 percent, down .2 percent compared to Nov. 2014. Back in 2007, the unemployment rate was 2.1 percent, its lowest point in 10 years. But the highest rate (not seasonally adjusted) happened in 2014 at 4.6 percent. Even during the recession it was at 3.4 percent.
For Racine, the unemployment rate for November was 6.1 percent, a full 1.5 percent drop compared to the same time in 2014. The current unemployment rate also marks the lowest — when compared to the same time periods over the past 10 years — is also at its lowest. In 2007, the unemployment rate not seasonally adjusted was at 7.9 percent.
But we wondered how the recession impacted you financially?
