Dayton Freight Lines Inc., a freight carrier based in Dayton, Ohio, purchased 33 acres of land in Sturtevant from Pitts Brothers and Associates LLC for $1.2 million.
Pitts Brothers and Associates, a commercial real estate firm based in Kenosha, sold the property on the southeast corner of Highway 11 and Highway H, on Dec. 17, said Rob Pitts.
But Sturtevant officials don’t have much detail on Dayton Freight Lines intentions with the property. Calls made to Dayton Freight Lines have not been returned.
Village president Steve Jansen said he knew company officials met with staff months ago when it held a Design Review Commission meeting, but officials from Dayton Freight Lines only showed them photos of a building.
“This wasn’t a concrete building plan and they haven’t even been in front of the Planning Commission,” he said. “It hasn’t even reached the conceptual or preliminary stage yet, but I imagine they will be presenting plans sometime in 2016.”
Village administrator Mary Cole said the building would be across the street from UNFI and that building has a LEED Certification, which means it meets strict requirements for energy and environmental design standards.
“We would be looking to keep those same standards for any new development that goes in there,” she said.
