With the opening of a new, stand-alone Chick-Fil-A scheduled to open on Washington Avenue in Mount Pleasant in the next couple of months, the existing restaurant inside Regency Mall is going to close by the end of January.

Chick-Fil-A spokesperson Brenda Morrow confirmed with The Journal Times that the 35-year-old restaurant inside the mall’s southwest entrance will close.

“We can confirm that we are closing our restaurant at the Regency Mall. We have had a long outstanding history of serving customers at the Regency Mall … for the last 35 years,” is quoted as saying.

The new restaurant is Chick-Fil-A’s first stand-alone restaurant in Racine County and just the fourth in Wisconsin. It is expected to open sometime in March.

There is no word yet on if current employees will have the opportunity to move over to the new Chick-Fil-A when it opens.
