A community water drive is underway to help the folks in Flint, MI, who can’t drink their water because the city water supply contains a toxic level of lead.
Racine police Chief Art Howell sent out an alert Saturday asking for the greater Racine community to contribute enough money so cases of bottled water can be purchased with the goal of filling a semi-tractor trailer for the residents of Flint.
“The lack of access to clean drinking water in Flint, MI represents a threat to public safety,” Howell said. “The goal is to raise enough funds to send at least one full semi load of water. Additional water will be sent as resources allow.”
The effort for Flint is being made primarily through area churches, but Howell is encouraging the entire community to participate. Donations can be submitted through Givelify with the following information:
