Despite being hospitalized and in the intensive care unit at Froedtert Hospital, April Weatherston has no intention of dropping out of the race for the Caledonia Village Board, according to a story by the Journal Times.
She announced in December that she was running against Caledonia Village Trustee Ed Willing for the spring election on April 5.
But her husband, Rep. Tom Weatherston (R-Caledonia) wrote on Facebook on Jan. 7 that April was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cell, and her organs were “distressed.” On Thursday, April was still in ICU, but the chemotherapy has the cancer in check.
April’s condition wasn’t getting worse or better, but discussion was still ongoing about whether she would be moved out of ICU, Weatherston wrote.
