House Speaker Paul Ryan and Navy SEAL Commando Chris Heben will be the featured speakers at the Republican Party of Racine County’s Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb. 6 at Memorial Hall.
Heben has been a featured subject matter expert on Fox News, CNN, NPR, and the Discovery and History channels. He has also been on the Animal Planet TV show: Ivory Wars. The Racine GOP chose Heben to speak because they believe national security “has become the number one issue for American voters,” according to a press release.
“Our Nation is flailing; from abysmal foreign policies that have caused destabilization of entire regions of the globe; to the failed handling of numerous domestic issues which have exacerbated and broadened racial, ethnic and religious lines – we are failing,” Heben said.. “As a SEAL, I was taught to lead, follow, or get out of the way. With respect to our Nation, we have done none of the former and thus, we have no other nations willing to do either of the latter. And that, my fellow Americans, is a very big problem.”
Heben released a book titled Undaunted and will be available for a book signing.
Ryan, chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, and Wisconsin State Sen. Van Wanggaard will also give remarks.
The event organizers noted that the dinner falls on President Ronald Reagan’s 105th birthday, and the New Hampshire GOP Primary Debate.
“We are delighted to have the unique opportunity to honor President Reagan, gain Mr. Heben’s perspective from the vantage point of a seasoned front line veteran; then gather with like-minded friends to view the debate…all in the same evening,” said Lisa Bell, Racine GOP Vice Chair.
The event will be held from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 6 at Memorial Hall, 72 7th St.
