Main Street crash

Main Street is shut down between Fourth and Seventh streets following a fiery crash overnight. Police were called to the area about 2:40 a.m., and found a two-car crash. One car was on fire, and a vehicle had struck a building. Two people were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

 

This is is the information the Racine Police Department released this morning:

Today, February 6, 2016 at approximately 2:37 am, officers, along with the Fire Department and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of 5th Street and Main Street for the report of a motor vehicle accident that struck a building, with a vehicle on fire and people trapped inside. Upon officers arrival they located a two vehicles on scene, one rolled over engulfed in flames.

Two people were subsequently transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital with serious injuries.

Due to the seriousness of injuries, Major Crimes Unit, Traffic Unit, and State Patrol were all activated.
