A 32-year-old Caledonia man is behind bars on a $30,000 cash bond after police say he threatened a woman who was scheduled to testify against him.
Brian Kennedy was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count of stalking and two misdemeanor counts each of intimidation of a witness and bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 6-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $50,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, Kennedy in January 2015 repeatedly contacted and threatened a woman who was going to testify against him. He called her both at home and at work, telling her what to say in court and threatening to kill her cats.
Police say Kennedy did take the woman’s dog, and she told officers she fears Kennedy will harm her. She also now has a gun to protect herself and said that Kennedy was ruining her life and her career.
Kennedy remains in the Racine County Jail and will next be in court March 2 for a pre-trial conference.
