A 29-year-old Kenosha man is facing armed robbery charges at home and in Racine County after Mount Pleasant police say he brandished a knife when he robbed a check cashing store.
Brian Lemay was charged Thursday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count each of armed 
robbery and bail jumping, both as a repeater. If convicted, he faces up to 46 years in prison and/or up to $110,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, a man – later identified as Lemay – on Jan. 19 walked into the Check Into Cash store, 5201 Washington Avenue, with armed with a butcher knife and demanded cash. The employee at the window opened the cash draw, and Lemay took some money put it in his pocket before grabbing the cash drawer with just over $1,000 and fleeing the scene with it.
Investigators learned that Lemay was an identified suspect in a number of robberies in Kenosha of Subway restaurants and additional check cashing locations. Kenosha officers took Lemay into custody after waiting for him at his home and say they found $1,000 cash on him.
A search warrant of Lemay’s home turned up more cash, the cash drawer and the knife he used during the Mount Pleasant robbery, the complaint reads. Kenosha investigators say Lemay wore clothes matching what the man in the Racine County store surveillance video was wearing, and those items were also found during the search warrant.
Lemay was assigned a $75,000 cash bond at his initial appearance Thursday in Racine and is being held in the Kenosha County Jail on a $99,999 cash bond where he faces a mix of 16 felony counts of armed robbery and bail jumping, two misdemeanor counts of theft and a single count of misdemeanor criminal damage to property.
His next court appearance in Racine is March 2 for a preliminary hearing; Lemay’s next court date in Kenosha is not listed.
