Sam Cottonaro (1)Salvatore Charles Cottonaro, “Sam”, 88, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his residence. Born in Milwaukee on May 22, 1927, Salvatore was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Nee: Maglio) Cottonaro.

Sam proudly served in the U.S. Army. On June 2, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joan D. Eichelberger who preceded him in death March 3, 1997. Sam was employed at Rexnord for many years before retiring from Bosch. Following retirement he worked at Milwaukee Metro. Sam enjoyed playing the harmonica and squeeze box. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his four children, Char (Scott) Kraft, Sandy (Ronnie) Beasley, Mike (Kathie) Cottonaro, Joe Cottonaro (Sue Anderson); 6 grandchildren, Darcie (Jim) Kuzik, DeAnna (Mike) Martin, Ron Beasley, Kari (Shawn) Zdrojewski, Mike Cottonaro II (Autumn Owen), Nicole Cottonaro (Chris Toombs); four great grandchildren, Ryan, Collin, Connor, and Josh; a sister, Josie Johnson; a brother, Tony Sciano; sister-in-law, Peggy Thuriot; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jordan Kuzik; his sister, Lucy Brown; brothers, Mike Cottonaro and Charlie Sciano; and daughter-in-law, Margo Cottonaro.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 at Maresh-Meredith Funeral Home, 803 Main St., followed by interment with full military honors at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and at 11:30 a.m. Friday 11:30 A.M. until time of service at 12:30 p.m.
