Mount Pleasant police say a 40-year-old woman is facing theft charges after stealing more than $600 in steaks from Pick ‘n Save on two separate occasions.
Teresita Delacruz, of Racine, will be charged with two misdemeanor charges of retail theft as a party of theft. If convicted, she faces up to 18 months in prison and/or up to $20,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, security personnel saw Delacruz and a male subject Saturday enter the Pick ‘n Save, 1202 N. Green Bay Road. Staffers recognized them from a storewide bulletin issued in relation to a past theft. The man exited the store and was seen loaded an undetermined amount of meat into a vehicle. Delacruz exited the store after the man and walked away, but she was brought back into the store to the security office.
Police say Delacruz and the man discarded a number of items before the man left the store with around $400 in steaks. The couple was also seen on March 15 store security surveillance stealing 19 steaks worth approximately $228. During questioning, Delacruz admitted to stealing from Pick ‘n Save on several other occasions.
Online inmate records do not list Delacruz in custody, and court records only list the complaint against her as filed.
