Instead of running for re-election, Chiapete announced at a press conference held Tuesday that assistant district attorney Tricia Hanson would be seeking the job. Hanson ran for Racine County Circuit Court Judge against David Paulson, who won the election.

She was in private practice for two years and has been a prosecutor for the Racine County District Attorney’s Office since 1996. In that capacity she has worked in every criminal and juvenile court in Racine County, including the protection of children, protection of the elderly, and serious felonies including homicides.

Racine lawyer Eugene B. Loftin, who owns Loftin Legal, already announced that he will be running against Hanson.

We’ve got phone calls into Chiapete and Hanson. We’ll update the story when they call back.
