The Caledonia Village board will consider two key game-changing projects at its meetings slated for Monday: a new village hall and a WisPark real estate deal.
Up for consideration is a conditional use permit that would allow the village to build a 12,470 square-foot village hall at 5043 Chester Lane and the board will discuss, in closed session, a development agreement with WisPark LLC for a 187 business park.
WisPark, a company that develops real estate projects and is owned by the Wisconsin Energy Corp., plans to buy 187 acres along the Interstate 94 corridor, for $5 million..
The village announced in September that Raymond-based Norco Manufacturing Corp. plans to build a 130,000 square-foot facility on 15 acres of a 187-acre parcel of land that WisPark LLC has agreed to defray some of the infrastructure costs. The industrial park is bounded between 4 Mile Road, Adams Road, the East Frontage Road and just west of Highway V.

In March, the Village Board approved hiring New Berlin-based Anderson Ashton Design/Building to develop design plans for a $3.5 million, 12,470 square-foot village hall on the northeast corner of Chester Lane and Four Mile Road. This includes spending $1 million on furniture, equipment and having a contingency fund.
If the project receives final approval, the project is expected to start sometime this summer.
The current building was constructed in 1953 when the Village was a Town. In 2013, the Village Hall had a leaky roof, insufficient work space and is not being handicap accessible. The Village voted to repair the roof then, but the work space has continued to be insufficient as the village has grown.
The special board meeting closed session will be held at 6:30 p.m. and the village board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the East Side Community Center, 6156 Douglas Ave.
