Original story: Law enforcement officials from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department are searching for an inmate that walked away from his work release job Monday afternoon from the Sturtevant Transitional Facility, 9351 Rayne Rd.

Andrew Leland, 24, is reported to have walked away from his job at the facility where he was serving time for a felony perjury conviction, according to a story by the Journal Times.

Leland was sentenced to 14 months in the Sturtevant Transitional Facility, a minimum security facility.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections turned the incident over to the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Lt. Steven Sikora, spokesperson for the Racine County Sheriff’s Depratment, said officials are treating the case as an escape because Leland walked away from something. However, Sikora didn’t have any further details.
