John Hartog left this life at Azura Kenosha on Saturday, April 30, 2016. John was born in Rock Island, IL, to Albert and Hazel Hartog. He grew up in Racine, and served in the United States Air Force. John moved to Oregon and retired from the Portland Water Department.
Survivors include his sons, John and Matthew; sister, Sally Harmsen; nieces and nephews, Sherry and Ron Berger, Autumn and Chris Russell, Ken and Sharna Hartog, Ernie and Kris Harmsen; sister-in-law, June Hartog; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Bonnie; brother, Albert; sisters, Marilee and Pat; and good friend Sandy.
John loved the mountains, ocean, road trips, singing, dancing, and dessert first.
Interment will be held Friday, May 13, 2016, 10 a.m., at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Memorials to the Health Care Network Inc. or to the Veteran’s Outreach of Wisconsin, Tiny House Village Project, P.O. Box 080932, Racine, WI 53408 have been suggested.
