James TroestlerJames “Jim” P. Troestler, 68, passed away Monday after an almost two year hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He lost his fight after suffering a massive brain bleed.  

Jim was a great husband, dad and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda (Nee:  Braun); his children and grandchildren, Jennifer (Jaime) Colin and their daughters, Ariel and Josie, all of Oregon, WI, Scott Troestler and his children, Alayna and Bradley, all of Racine, Matthew (Nichole) Troestler and their daughter Ava and Addison who is expected to arrive in August, all of Brooklyn, WI, Adam (Sarah) Troestler and their children, Dakota and Angelina, all of Racine; sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Gedemer, Shari Troestler, all of Racine; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry (Karen) Braun of Mt. Prospect, IL, Patty Braun of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Marjorie (Nee: Bartels) Troestler; brother, Michael; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Winifred Braun; brother-in-law, Robert “Joey” Braun Jr.; grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 11 a.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at Maresh-Meredith Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Choi and staff in the Oncology Department at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare for their compassion and care given to Jim during this difficult time.  Also a special thank you to Wheaton Franciscan Emergency Department and 3rd floor nursing staff for their kind and professional care during Jim’s last day.
