Colorful, tropical fun. We’ve been waiting a year – now the wait is almost over! The Color Run Racine returns to the lakefront starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Pre-run check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. at the parking lot behind Gateway Technical College, 1001 S. Main St. Free parking is available in the Racine Civic Centre ramp on Lake Avenue and the lot at Sixth Street and Pershing Drive. A free shuttle will run between Sixth and Pershing and the Gateway lot. This noncompetitive 5k through the streets of Racine features bright colors (safe, colored cornstarch) at four zones and a special “Tropicolor” zone that will cover you in tropical colors and island scents on your way to a huge Rainbow Beach party at the finish line. Your registration includes a limited edition shirt, embroidered headband, finishers medal, fun tattoos and color packet all for $44.99. Vote for chocolate! Burlington ChocolateFest 2016 gets under way at 4 p.m. Friday at the ChocolateFest grounds, 681 Maryland Ave., and runs through 7 p.m. Monday (Memorial Day). This 30th anniversary celebration of the city’s chocolate making heritage includes a chocolate carving competition, chef demonstrations, live music, a carnival midway, petting zoo and the Miss Burlington pageant. You’ll want to visit the Chocolate Experience Tent for free chocolate chip cookies and chocolate themed-games. General admission is $8 for adults; $3 for kids ages 5 through 12. Spring crafts. While you’re in Burlington, be sure to take in the Jaycees Arts and Crafts Fair at Echo Park, 589 Milwaukee Ave. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Visit www.burlingtonjaycees.org
Last of the run. The Racine Theatre Guild’s presentation of “Fiddler on the Roof” is getting great buzz with just a few performances left. This Tony Award-winning musical has a huge cast performing high-energy, memorable music. Toe tapping fun. The final weekend performances for The Haylofters’ presentation of “Pump Boys and Dinettes” are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Malt House Theatre, 109 N. Main St., Burlington. Remember on Memorial Day. Please take the time to honor those who have served our country this Memorial Day (Monday). Memorial Day parades are at 10 a.m. from West Boulevard to Graceland Cemetery in Racine; at 9 a.m. from Kane and Edwards streets to Echo Park in Burlington; and at 1:30 p.m. from the Rochester firehouse to Pioneer Park in Rochester. Memorial Day observances are at 10 a.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park, 9000 Washington Ave., Mount Pleasant, and at 11 a.m. at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring St., Union Grove.
