Racine police say a 50-year-old man is facing decades in prison after he exchanged sexual messages with a 14-year-old girl and had her hide marijuana in her clothes for him.

Andre AlexanderAndre Alexander, of Zion, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count each of child enticement, exposing a child to harmful descriptions and marijuana possession with the intent to deliver – distribution to minors as well as one misdemeanor count each of contribution to the delinquency of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, he faces up to 31 years in prison and/or up to $130,500 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called Friday to the 5500 block of Byrd Avenue after three teenagers discovered another friend left her Facebook account open on one of their phones, and they saw sexual messages between the girl and Alexander that “caused them concern.” They turned the phone over to officers who read several explicit messages, the most notable of which described in graphic terms a sex act that may or may not have taken place between the girl and Alexander.

Police say witnesses directed them to a red Jeep behind another apartment building where they said officers would find both the girl and Alexander. When police approached the vehicle, they detected the smell of marijuana and saw the girl slide something into the front of her shirt. They removed Alexander from the driver’s side of Jeep and asked the girl if she had any marijuana on her.

The girl pulled a blunt from her bra and a bag of marijuana from the front of her pants, the complaint reads. When police asked her why she had the drugs, she said that when officers pulled up behind the Jeep that Alexander told her to put the drugs in her pants so “she did as she was told.”

Officers say the bag of pot weighed almost 18 grams, and Alexander had $1,118 in cash on him at the time he was taken into custody. The girl’s mother was contacted, and she gave police her daughter’s phone so police could continue investigating the extent of the messages between Alexander and the girl.

Alexander remains in the Racine County Jail on a $25,000 bond and is ordered to not have any contact with the girl. He will next be in court June 9 for his preliminary hearing.
