The baby who suffered several facial trauma after getting bit by a family dog remains in intensive care at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee but is doing well.

A person close to the family told Racine County Eye that Baby Ryder could be home in a few weeks. A gofundme.com page has been set up to help his family with medical expenses and cover daily necessities while his parents remain in the hospital with him.

In the description for the fundraiser, Ryder’s condition is listed as positive after going through a long surgery.

“Just saw Ryder and he continues to get stronger. He is very comfortable and was squeezing our hands,” the post reads.

Nearly half the $5,000 goal had been donated just one day after the page was established. Click here to donate to Ryder’s recovery.

An additional fundraising event is being organized, but a date hasn’t yet been determined.

Ryder was injured Thursday when a family dog bit him on the head and face. He was first transported to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s and then taken by Flight for Life to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

The family that owns the dog was cited for the animal not having up-to-date vaccinations and not licensing the dog.

Ryder remains in the intensive care unit. We will update this story as details become available.
