West Racine Home Fire Under InvestitagionAbout $40,000 in damage was done to a West Racine home following a fire that happened at 11:10 a.m. Monday at 1008 West Lawn Ave., according to the Racine Fire Department.

A neighbor saw smoke coming from “his neighbor’s backyard” and called 911. Heavy fire and smoke was coming from the back deck and flames shot up past the roof line. Firefighters put out the blaze quickly and were able to get inside the home. No one was injured, but a dog had to be rescued.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to a press release by the Racine Fire Department. We Energies crews shut off the utilities going to the home and it was turned over to the owner, which had a restoration company on scene.
