A Caledonia Police officer rescued two dogs after putting out fire at 8:01 p.m. Saturday at a residence at 5038 Charles St.
When officer Chad Zoltak got to the scene he got the residents out of the house, and used his fire extinguisher to put out a kitchen fire at the home. But when he finished the job and walked outside, the homeowners told him there were two dogs still inside the home.
“The officer crawled into the residence through dense smoke, located the two dogs and safely brought them out,” said Lt. Gary Larsen, of the Caledonia Police Department.
Most of the damage was in the kitchen and appeared to have been caused by a toaster, Larsen said.
No estimated damage amount has been set.
