A Mount Pleasant man remains in critical condition after he crashed the truck he was driving into a train at 11:35 p.m. Saturday on Highway K near Highway H in Franksville.
Andrew Lawrence, 33, suffered from severe head trauma and was taken by a Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, according to officials with the Caledonia Police Department.
“He was traveling eastbound on Highway K near Highway H when he went around the traffic control arms, which were down at the time,” said Lt. Gary Larsen, of the Caledonia Police Department. “He struck the southbound Hiawatha/Amtrack train.”
Investigators don’t believe the crash was intentional. However, they are waiting for the results of a toxicology report to see if Lawrence was impaired at the time.
Lawrence never regained consciousness following the crash.
