The weather forecast for today gets more ominous the closer storms get to Racine County.
Reports from the U.S. National Weather Service in Sullivan, WI, predicted rough weather in two waves, and that seems to be how other meteorologists see the storms developing as well. What is changing is increased accuracy about when the rain will arrive and how bad it could get.
“It looks like the storms will come in from the southwest, moving east toward Lake Michigan, by about 7 a.m.,” weather caster Lindsey Slater wrote on the WISN 12 News weather blog. “The system has the potential of producing hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 to 70 mph but should be over by midday.”
The second round is when the potential for tornadoes arrives.
“A second round of storms is possible later in the afternoon, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and they could be even more potent than the first round,” Slater continues. “This system brings with it the possibility of tornadoes.”
