You’re invited to make some noise at the 2016 edition of the Ironman 70.3 Racine triathlon this Sunday, July 17. You can cheer on your favorites with FREE Real Racine pompons, inflatable thundersticks and “go” signs (while supplies last).
“The athletes who come from all over the world to compete in the Ironman are always so impressed by the enthusiasm and support they get from the fans here in the Racine area,” says Kari Dawson, Real Racine events director. “This year, we’re kicking it up a notch by giving fans some more tools to help cheer on the competitors.”
Real Racine, the county’s destination marketing organization, is giving away 2,000 sets of bright blue pompons and inflatable thundersticks. Real Racine will also have markers and pre-printed cardboard so fans can create their own “go” signs to cheer on friends and family members alone the race course. The items will be available at the new Spirit Station located at the south end of North Beach Park, 100 Kewaunee St., starting this Sunday morning. The triathlon starts at 7 a.m.
The Ironman 70.3 Racine triathlon is expected to bring as many as 2,500 athletes to the Racine area for a 1.2-mile swim in Lake Michigan, a 56-mile bicycle ride through the county and a 13.1-mile run along the lakeshore Follow this year’s triathlon action at: http://www.ironmanracine.com
