Rose I. Steidl, 85, passed away Monday at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Rose was born in Racine, September 23, 1930, daughter of the late Peter and Aquila (Nee: Morrone) Chiappetta.
Rose was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1948”. On January 5, 1957 at St. Lucy Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Walter H. Steidl. She was a longtime member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Vittoria Colonna, and the Moose Lodge. An excellent cook, Rose also enjoyed knitting, puzzles, and gambling.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Walter; her children, Jeffrey (Mary) Steidl, Terri Steidl, Susan (Jeffrey) Sykes; her seven grandchildren, David, Rachel, Dana, Tyler, Sean, Jennifer, and Amy; sister, Eva Rawley; brother, Arthur (Mary) Chiappetta; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona Leis, Julia Kumm, Jerome (Billie) Steidl, Eugene (Lori) Steidl, Janice Steidl; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Mary (Ernie) Rossi, Jill (Bill) Wade, Albert Chiappetta; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob Rawley, Richard Steidl, Phyllis Steidl, Ernie Leis, Elmer Kumm, and Helen Steidl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green Street, with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Garden Crypts. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church have been suggested.
