Michael Mallory Larson, 65, passed away Thursday, at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born Feb. 19, 1951 to Clifton and LaVerle (Nee: Olsen) Larson.
In Manistique, Michigan he married Darlene Gerber in 1996. Mike lived in Racine, Wisconsin most of his life. He graduated from Washington Park High School where he was on the school wrestling team.
Growing up he worked on fishing boats with his brother Melvin and his uncle. For many years through high school he worked on the Spang horse farm on Highway 38 in Caledonia. Later he partnered with his brother Mel and sister-in-law Mary to run the Public Riding Stable in Husher. Mike also drove truck for thirty plus years for Rybar, P.P.G., Ford Motor, John’s Concrete and Vaash & Sons.
Mike loved playing cards and dice and Texas Holdum and Wahoo were his games of choice. He loved to tell stories about his horse days, driving truck and the card hand that got away. He put his story telling to good practice at the tavern, Stil Country, which he and Darlene bought and operated since 1997.
Mike is survived by his wife, Darlene; his brother, Melvin Larson and special friend Lisa Hoffman; son, Ryan Larson; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy (Kevin) Coey; grandchildren, Jaiden Larson, Christopher Hush, Shelbie Erhardt, and Cody Erhardt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and LaVerle Larson; brother, Roland Larson; and stepdaughter, Tammy Hush.
Mike wishes were to be cremated with no funeral visitation or service. His wish was for everyone to select a day to celebrate his life where all of his friends, too many to mention, could remember him as he was, a loving husband, father, and friend. Mike liked his Miller Lite beer, Jim Beam Black, cigarettes and stories. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at Stil Country, 1100 Douglas Avenue, Racine, Sunday, 2 p.m. until?
