A Racine teenager being held at the county’s Juvenile Detention Center was brought back into court Monday on two adult cases. Carlos Gonzalez Jr., 15, is accused of twice assaulting other inmates at the facility.

According to court records, on Sunday Gonzalez went after an 11-year-old boy, choking him with an orange sweatshirt and threatening to kill him. Sheriff’s deputies reported they came into a dayroom to find Gonzalez with a sweatshirt around the boy’s neck. The boy was fighting for breath.

The 11-year-old boy told deputies that Gonzalez wanted to fight him. When he said no, the boy said, Gonzalez came after him with the shirt. Gonzalez is charged with strangulation, battery and felony intimidation of a witness.

The second case involves a June incident, where Gonzalez was accused of punching another student after a reported accidental elbow to the face during a basketball game at the detention facility. Gonzalez reportedly admitted hitting the other boy, but said he had been struck multiple times by the other subject.

In this case, Gonzalez is charged with battery and disorderly conduct.
