Racine-based Katt Construction owner and founder Herb Katt is selling the business he founded 30 years ago to Industrial Construction & Associates.
Biz Times Milwaukee is reporting that the sale went through July 1, but for how much is unknown. Katt will serve as president of IC & A, and Joe Van Bree, IC & A’s founder, will move into the chief executive officer role.
All 18 Katt employees will move to the new company, and Katt’s 6,000 square foot building at 1434 West Street will be put for sale. IC & A is located at 1718 Layard Avenue in a 60,000 square foot facility.
Katt told the Biz Times the merger gives Katt more reach.
“I’m basically a local contractor, whereas IC&A is more regional, has developed a regional customer base,” he is quoted as saying. “The business has been kind of slow (recently). This offers more opportunities with IC&A.”
