Mount Pleasant police say a 42-year-old woman is facing misdemeanor theft charges after she walked into her ex-boyfriend’s garage and stole a pair of boots from the man’s current girlfriend.
Tracy Black, of Racine, was charged Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court with one misdemeanor count each of theft, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. If convicted, she faces up to 21 months in prison and/or up to $21,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called Monday to a man’s home for report of trespassing and theft. When officers arrived, a man told them that Black was not allowed on his property and if she ignored that direction he would call the police.
Officers say Black went into the man’s garage and when he went into the house to call police, she stole a pair of Harley Davidson boots belonging to the man’s current girlfriend. The boots have an estimated value of $150. While police were at the home, they saw Black drive by and then flee the area.
Police caught up with Black at her residence, and she admitted she knew she wasn’t supposed to go to the man’s home, the complaint reads.
Black was still in the Racine County Jail Tuesday evening on a $500 signature bond. She was ordered to stay away from the man and the man’s girlfriend. Black will next be in court Aug. 18 for a pre-trial conference.
